Pharmaflur 1.1
Rx Only DESCRIPTION: Sodium Fluoride Chewable tablets USP for use as a dental caries preventative in children. Contains no sugar or saccharin. INGREDIENTS: Each Pharmaflur 1.1 mg tablet contains 0.5 mg fluoride. CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY: Sodium Fluoride acts systemically (before tooth eruption) and topically (Post eruption) by increasing tooth resistance to acid dissolution, by promoting remineralization and by inhibiting the cariogenic microbial process. INDICATIONS AND USAGE: It is well established that ingestion of fluoridated drinking water (1 ppm F) during the period of tooth development results in a significant decrease in the incidence of dental caries. Sodium Fluoride tablets were developed to provide fluoride for children living in areas where the water fluoride is 0.6 ppm or less. CONTRAINDICATIONS: Pharmaflur 1.1 mg tablets are contraindicated when the fluoride content of the drinking water exceeds 0.6 ppm. WARNING: Do not use Pharmaflur 1.1 mg tablets where the fluoride content of the drinking water is 0.6 ppm or more. As in the case of all medications, KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. PRECAUTION: See "overdosage" section below. Incompatibility of fluoride with dairy foods has been reported due to formation of calcium fluoride which is poorly absorbed. ADVERSE REACTIONS: Allergic rash and other idiosyncrasies have been rarely reported. OVERDOSAGE: Prolonged daily ingestion of excessive fluoride will result in varying degrees of dental fluorosis. DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: Fluoride content of drinking water less than 0.3 ppm
Fluoride content 0.3 to 0.6 ppm, 1/2 the above listed dosages. Greater than 0.6 ppm Fluoride supplements are contraindicated.
